My Name is Bryan W. I am a 56-year-old resident who currently resides at Medilodge of Grand Blanc.

My story starts out a little rough but I would like to share it with everyone. For several years I was a smoker. While out with my family, I suddenly felt ill and had difficulty breathing. I was transported to the hospital by ambulance. At some point in time, I went unconscious and woke up 3 weeks later in the hospital and on a ventilator. I was unable to move, or talk, and felt very scared.

The therapy team and I worked closely together to help me towards my goal of being off the ventilator and to walk and talk again.

I was then transported to Select Care of McLaren to be weaned off the ventilator; once I was stable they transferred me to Medilodge of Grand Blanc, still on a ventilator. The staff at Medilodge started me on therapy and the respiratory department helped me to wean off the ventilator which I am very grateful for. The therapy team and I worked closely together to help me towards my goal of being off the ventilator and to walk and talk again.

I just wanted my life back.

This all took about 4-5 months. I was able to go home May 26th, 2018 walking and talking with no ventilator. October 2018 I was admitted back to the hospital with pneumothorax. 4 days later I went through lung surgery to treat this condition. On October 29th, 2018 I came back to Medilodge of Grand Blanc for therapy to help me get out of the wheelchair and walking again.

My health is now stable and I am doing very well, back to walking and talking and participating in daily activities. All of my hard work has been a huge accomplishment. I am a very proud resident at Medilodge of Grand Blanc.
